Greetings Fish Fans!
The fishing inshore and nearshore for May has been concentrated on schools of baitfish. The creeks and intracoastal waterway have been holding schools of mullet which has had redfish, trout and flounder shadowing them. There have also been quite a few jacks and ladyfish mixed in as well. Look for small run outs on a falling tide to concentrate the bait. Float rigs with with a small mullet or mudminnow have been the bait of choice or a top water lure in low light conditions. The beach has been holding large schools of pogies in 10′-50′ depths. There have been some big jacks and sharks working these schools as well as some bluefish and Spanish mackerels. Tarpon should be starting to show up as well on these bait pods. The nearshore wrecks are beginning to hold kingfish, bonitas and a few cobia. Look for schools of Spanish sardines on the nearshore wrecks for targeting these species.
